Should I put Liquid Plumber in my Clogged Shower Drain
April 4th, 2010Last night I noticed I have a clogged drain in the shower in my garage bathroom in St Petersburg. When I went in, I saw the shower that we always keep squeaky clean had some residue in it. I tried to flush the toilet and it overflowed. I think it has something to do with the washer. We got some liquid plumber to put down the drain but wanted to know if you can come out to help today if it doesn’t work.
That sounds like a common main drain back up that people experience all the time. The first thing I will tell you is that liquid plumber will probably not do you any good for a main line back up. The problem is happening somewhere in the line that runs from the house to the city sewer line. The liquid plumber will most likely just get caught in the trap, mix with the water, and neutralize well before it would make it down to the clog to be effective. It could even cause damage to your pipes if they are old metal drains.
I would recommend cabling for your drain cleaning. We send a metal cable with a rotating 3 inch blade into your drains up to 75 feet long to physically unclog the pipes. In order to get to that drain, you need a St. Petersburg Plumber to come out to your property to find out where the access point would be. We charge by the job and the standard cabling service covers 2 hours which is usually more than enough to clear the drain. If we feel like there are no major problems with the drainage system, we will give you a thirty day warranty against future backups.
